Forum To Fight Violence

The “Adar” association, also known as the Forum of Professional Men and Women to Combat Femicide, was established in 2016 with the specific aim of addressing gender-based femicide, particularly within Arab society. Our focus is on tackling this issue from a professional perspective, centering on the experiences of women and specialists in gender violence intervention.

The association deals with the issue of eradicating the phenomenon of murder of women based on gender by treating the caregivers who are the central and significant link in the relationship with the victims of gender violence.

The association does this by accompanying, empowering, and strengthening the mental resilience of the professionals dealing with gender violence.

The association believes that, in order to prevent the next murder, the “front” that takes care of these women must be strengthened.

Under the theme “Who Takes Care of the Caregiver?”, our work is dedicated to combating femicide and providing support for those involved in addressing gender-based violence. The association was founded by a dedicated group of individuals, and I, Dr. Manal Shelbi, am honored to serve as the CEO, bringing my expertise in social work to our mission.

My impact loan status:

Micro lending, Macro Impact

The loan is needed to cover current expenses, including salaries and sustaining ongoing activities. Additionally, there’s a crucial need to establish a research and knowledge unit aimed at sharing knowledge aligned with the association’s objectives. This includes preparing a research report on the association’s status amidst the war in evacuated areas in the south and north.

Securing the loan will enable us to hire a researcher and facilitate translations in three languages: Hebrew, English, and Arabic. This will significantly enhance our ability to fulfill our mission effectively.

The association is named after the month of March (Adar), because in March there are several women’s events (Mother’s Day in Arab society, Women’s Day, etc.) The name also symbolizes new beginnings and new life for us.
