Frequently Asked Questions

01

How much of my loan goes to the business?

100% of your loan goes to the businesses you choose.

02

Do I need to fund the entire loan?

No. In fact, please invite your friends to make an impact and help a business in Israel flourish. If you want to fund the full loan amount, please email info@sparkil.org.

03

How does repayment work?

You will begin to receive monthly repayments soon after making the loan. The balance can be seen in your SparkIL account. SparkIL does not guarantee full repayment but works diligently to ensure borrowers repay their loans fully.

04

Who qualifies to receive a SparkIL loan?

A cross-section of small businesses throughout Israeli society are eligible to apply for a loan through SparkIL. Business owners fall within Israel’s social, economic, or geographic periphery and are vetted by a committee before joining the platform. For more on that, visit our impact page.

05

What happens if a campaign isn’t fully funded?

The SparkIL team works closely with the borrowers to promote the campaign in various mediums to ensure the loan is fully funded. In some cases, matching dollars from philanthropic donors will be used if a campaign needs a boost. Most borrowers can still use the money even if the loan is not fully funded.

#bringthemhome

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jon Polin, a founder of SparkIL, and his family during this profoundly difficult time. We mourn with them the tragic loss of their son Hersh, who was cruelly murdered while being held hostage in Gaza by Hamas. Our thoughts are with the Polin family, and we continue to hope for the safe return of everyone still captive in Gaza.
