Hillel’s Winery In The Dessert

The vineyard was planted in 2012 near Mitzpe Ramon. Our vision was to grow wine grapes in the heart of the desert out of a belief in the strengthening of the Negev through Hebrew agriculture and labor.  I make wine from my grapes at “Forat Winery. On October 7th, I was drafted into service and during the time (40 days)  I was away, my wine production had no supervision.  The loan helps with working capital and allows me to continue growing.

Hillel Porat, 37 years old, married with three children, I am a farmer and vintner. I cultivate a vineyard in the desert, driven by a profound belief in fortifying the Negev through Hebrew agriculture and labor. I  firmly hold that agriculture, particularly in the heart of the desert, remains the cornerstone of Zionism and our rightful connection to the land.
